R&D Manager
CITRUS OILS / CITRUS FLAVORS

We are seeking a R&D Manager who will manages all technical aspects concerning CITRUS OILS, CITRUS FLAVORS and Natural Derivatives products and provide input for all raw materials to be purchased, blends and/or inventory batches following customer specifications, and guide in all aspects related to technical production issues including engineering concepts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages all technical aspects concerning the Citrus Oils/Natural Derivatives products
- Source of the design of new products and quality standards
- Supports Quality and Production in all aspects of the industrial operation
- Primary R&D resource for new products
Provides input for all raw materials to be purchased
- Processes quality data to define purchase of new incoming raw materials
- Works closely with the Quality team for the evaluation of data
- Supports Procurement with the technical content for target materials characteristics
Provides input for final product blends and/or inventory batches; follows customer specifications
- Analyzes inventory to determine batches to be utilized in the manufacturing of final products
- Considers chromatography, physio-chemical and sensory data to define blend recipes
- Adjusts blends and other final product processes to align technical and target cost objectives
Provides guidance for distillation products both to the pilot scale lab and to tollers
- Utilizes customer specifications or a new product concept to guide the pilot lab in the first steps of product development
- Provides input for upscaling
- Adjusts process parameters as needed to fine tune quality
- Provide process input for the making of final products
Provide process input for the making of final products (blends)
- Assists production in defining manufacturing methods and protocols
- Makes necessary corrections to ensure proper manufacturing
- Supports Quality in the interpretation of final product analytics
Main technical instance for the troubleshooting of production issues
- In case of issues regarding products and processes that encounter abnormalities, recommends remediation measures
Defines engineering concepts for the shop floor (investments and equipment acquisitions)
- Prepare process information and provides basic input for the specifications of equipment and machinery
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- College education in Chemistry, preferably with a master?s degree
- Must have 10+ years of R&D, Chemistry experience in similar positions in CITRUS OILS, CITRUS DERIVATIVES and CITRUS FLAVORS
- Deep knowledge of gas chromatography and mass spectrometry
- Proven experience in managing lab and production assets in the specific filed
- Knowledge of apple essence processing is desirable
