For over 60 years, we have been providing a broad range of fresh-made sandwiches, subs, biscuits, burgers, wraps and more for the ready-to-eat convenience market. We are part of the H.T. Hackney family of brands, one of the largest food wholesalers in the country. Our manufacturing facility is located in Ooltewah, TN (Chattanooga area) and we service a national customer base.
About the Position
We are looking to expand our growing sales team with an experienced professional willing to travel. The successful candidate for this role must be a versatile, self-driven, dedicated, team player experienced in both managing existing accounts and developing and executing strategy to gain new business. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this position will require frequent travel. While it is based out of Hackney’s Tampa FL facility we will consider some remote work as long periodic visits to the Ooltewah facility can be made as necessary.
Responsibilities
- Manage major accounts within the region and coordinate the management of all other accounts
- Develop and implement both short- and long-range goals and objectives for each account
- Liaison with Distributors and Retailers - responsible for communicating up to date information on new products and product/packaging changes
- Provide customer information as needed to internal sales team, accounts receivable, and controller
- Develop and manage sales budgets
- Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of sales efforts
- Utilize market specific data to develop strategies and plans which identify sales opportunities, support, and implement sales plan for new project development
- Researching and understanding the competitor landscape
- Plan and coordinate company sales functions and participate in distributor, retailer, and industry Trade Shows as needed
- Oversee the preparation, issuance, and delivery of sales materials, displays, exhibits, and promotional programs
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience selling to and managing both retail and wholesale customers (preferably in the food industry)
- Demonstrable skill in account management and new business development
- Experience analyzing sales data and creating sales strategy
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to successfully work and achieve goals with a minimum amount of direction and possess a “strong planning skill” to manage business in defined territory
- Position requires travel up to 75% of the time to meet with customers, overnight travel will be required, occasional weekends will be required due to trade-show schedules
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office -- Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to work with a diverse staff and customer base
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred, but not required – related experience will be considered in lieu of education
- Operation of company-owned vehicle is required (Motor Vehicle Report required for successful candidate)
Physical Requirements
The position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a typical office setting, driving a motor vehicle, and working in the field. You may be required to lift objects weighing 20-50 pounds from below waist level to above shoulders and transport distances of up to fifty feet. The ability to see with or without correction, in the normal visual range and the ability to hear in the normal audio range.
