Job Summary
One of our client is currently seeking a Transportation Supervisor for their facility located in Miami FL.
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Transportation Supervisor to lead our second-shift transportation operations within a fast-paced Direct Store Distribution (DSD) environment. This position is responsible for supervising a team of more than 75 union drivers, ensuring safe, efficient, and customer-focused delivery operations while maintaining compliance with labor agreements, DOT regulations, and company standards.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader with extensive transportation experience, proven success managing unionized workforces, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic distribution environment where service, safety, and productivity are critical.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support a team of 75+ union delivery drivers and transportation personnel.
- Manage daily transportation operations to ensure on-time deliveries and superior customer service.
- Lead driver start-up meetings, route execution, and end-of-shift activities.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, Hours of Service requirements, company policies, and safety standards.
- Administer and interpret collective bargaining agreements while fostering positive labor relations.
- Conduct performance coaching, corrective action, and employee development initiatives.
- Investigate and resolve transportation issues, accidents, customer complaints, and service failures.
- Monitor key performance indicators including safety, service, productivity, fuel efficiency, and labor utilization.
- Partner with warehouse, sales, customer service, and fleet maintenance teams to optimize operational performance.
- Manage staffing, scheduling, attendance, overtime, and workforce planning.
- Champion a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Utilize transportation management systems and reporting tools to analyze operational performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, Transportation, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
- 3+ years of transportation, distribution, or logistics leadership experience.
- Experience managing large teams in a unionized environment.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, fleet operations, transportation safety practices, and compliance requirements.
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Experience with labor relations and collective bargaining agreements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and transportation management systems.
- Ability to work second shift beginning at 12:00 PM and support business needs as required.
Preferred
- Experience in a Direct Store Distribution (DSD), food and beverage, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or high-volume delivery environment.
- Experience managing 50+ drivers or transportation associates.
- Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills.
