Job Summary
Purpose of Position:
This position is responsible for assisting with carrier management, development, and procurement for Truckload (TL) and some LTL transportation. In this role, will use industry insight to design, assist with developing, and resourcing low-cost carrier solutions that meet our clients' business needs, and will act as the primary liaison between Del Monte and transportation providers.
Accountabilities:
- Assist, develop, coordinate, and optimize carrier relationships.
Classify carriers by role (strategic, niche, etc.) and invest time as appropriate
- Identify new carriers to add to the core carrier base or to migrate from non-strategic to strategic roles
- Understand customer's and DC's operational requirements and ability to align that with Del Monte/Mann's carrier network
- Assist with problem resolution between Del Monte and carrier/broker
- Assist in the efforts to confirm committed capacity
- Link with sales and accounting departments to resolve billing discrepancies and claims
- Support, develop, and maintain strategy goals and initiatives through Carrier Procurement and Compliance
- Maintain carrier database, including carrier profiles and rates
- Support Carrier Development Manager in planning that promotes business growth and cost savings
- Monitor and update Del Monte offices and DCs on key regulatory, judicial, and industry issues and decisions that affect the transportation industry
- Be a liaison between Del Monte and Mann on 3rd party carrier development and pricing
- Problem-solve issues relating to carrier onboarding and procurement
- Assist Tricont Equipment Manager with any financial tasks
- Assist the Transportation Analyst with any pricing requests requested by sales
- Help the Carrier Developing Manager with Supplier Maintenance requests and new carrier set ups
- Assist Freight Invoicing department with carrier pay issues
- Other duties as assigned.
Required:
- High School or GED equivalent.
- Must be detail-oriented and organized.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good Knowledge of Microsoft Office Skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, etc.).
